He later worked in the Agency’s Counterterrorism Center as a Special Operations Program Officer, where he conducted covert operations overseas in high-risk environments.
During his career with Diplomatic Security, Ryan gained extensive experience conducting protective operations for foreign dignitaries, U.S. officials, and diplomats. He served as Agent in Charge [AIC] for several U.S. ambassadors in high-threat overseas posts, demonstrating exceptional leadership under pressure. His protective assignments also included serving as shift leader for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and as lead advance for His Royal Highness Prince Charles, underscoring his proven ability to manage complex and sensitive protective missions.
Ryan was also a member of Diplomatic Security’s elite Mobile Security Deployments [MSD], a tactical unit specializing in high-threat operations. In that role, he led protective security missions worldwide and provided advanced training in defensive tactics, protective operations, tactical firearms, and evasive driving to foreign nationals and allied military units at U.S. embassies.
